...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AKST SATURDAY... ...EXTREME COLD WARNING IS CANCELLED FOR THE LOWER KUSKOKWIM VALLEY AND BRISTOL BAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as -50F.

* WHERE...Lower Kuskokwim Valley, Central Alaska Peninsula, Northern
Alaska Peninsula, Bristol Bay Borough (Naknek and King Salmon),
Inland Bristol Bay, and Lake Iliamna / Nila Vena / Nanvarpak.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged
exposure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Air temperatures will continue to remain
around -10 to -20 degrees along the coast and as low as -20 to -30
degrees inland. Winds as high as 20 mph will bring widespread
areas of frigid wind chills to -50F or lower. The coldest wind
chills are expected for the Lower Kuskokwim Valley. Wind chills
will improve by tomorrow, but another round of cold temperatures
and wind chills is expected early next week.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
