...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY EVENING... ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Illinois...Indiana... Wabash River from Montezuma to Mount Carmel. White River from Petersburg to Hazleton. .Minor flooding continues along the lower White River from Petersburg to Hazleton. Minor flooding also continues on the Wabash River from Montezuma down to Mount Carmel with the crest at Vincennes. Rain amounts with scattered storms this evening are not expected to impact main stem river levels, but locally heavy rainfall in a basin could cause a bump in stage as well as lengthen the amount of time in flood. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at Mount Carmel. * WHEN...Until Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, River is bankfull in all locations. All oil field production ceases with the exception of pumping units on substructures. Access to these are by boat only. Agricultural losses increase dramatically. Farmers move livestock to higher ground. City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year round. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:45 AM CDT /12:45 PM EDT/ Wednesday the stage was 20.1 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:45 AM CDT /12:45 PM EDT/ Wednesday was 20.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.2 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Wabash River at New Harmony. .Recent heavy rainfall is resulting in continued slow rises on the Wabash River. At New Harmony, the river will crest O.7 feet above flood stage Friday, then fall below flood stage early Sunday. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at New Harmony. * WHEN...Until Sunday morning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 15.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.7 feet early Friday morning.
