...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AKST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills 40 to 55 below. * WHERE...Bristol Bay region, Kuskokwim Valley East, Lime Village, and Northern Alaska Peninsula. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 55 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another prolonged period of very cold wind chills is forecast this week, with ambient temperatures gradually decreasing through mid-week along with persistent northerly winds. Communities across Bristol Bay, and the Lower Kuskokwim Valley will see wind chills drop below -40F this evening. Warmer temperatures look to arrive on Thursday.
