...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow possible. Total snow accumulations 3 to 6 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Visibility reduced to one-half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Unalaska and Akutan * WHEN...From Thursday afternoon through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong low pressure system in the northern Pacific will approach the Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula Thursday. Low position Thursday afternoon is still uncertain but Akutan currently appears to be on the periphery of this system, potentially bringing gusty winds and blowing snow through Thursday afternoon and evening.
