...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST MONDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 70 below. * WHERE...Central Brooks Range, Atigun and Anaktuvuk Passes. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Monday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 70 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong north wind gusts to 55 mph will likely weaken on Monday. Whiteout conditions at the top and south side of the pass are expected through Monday morning. Temperatures look to remain very cold through the middle part of the week, but winds will be much weaker.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
