...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AKST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills 10 to 25 below. * WHERE...Chignik and Southern Alaska Peninsula. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another prolonged period of very cold wind chills is forecast this week, with ambient temperatures gradually decreasing through mid-week along with persistent northerly winds. Wind chills below -10F are already ongoing for the communities of Nelson Lagoon and Chignik, while locations further southwest along the Alaska Peninsula may see wind chills reach and drop below -10F as early as this afternoon. Warmer temperatures look to arrive on Thursday.
