...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches possible. Visibility may be reduced to one-half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Bristol Bay Borough (Naknek and King Salmon), Inland Bristol Bay, Lake Iliamna, Nila Vena, Nanvarpak, Northern Alaska Peninsula, and Northern Bristol Bay Coast. * WHEN...From Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong low pressure system in the northern Pacific will approach the Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula Thursday, potentially moving northward into Bristol Bay by Thursday evening. Low position Thursday afternoon is still uncertain but Bristol Bay communities particularly near the coast, may see near-blizzard conditions with blowing snow and reduced visibilities.
