...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CHST TUESDAY... ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet. * WHERE...West and north facing reefs of Yap. * WHEN...Until 5 PM ChST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northwest swell from distant TY Fung-wong is still impacting Yap, but is slowly continuing to decrease and is being replaced by a pulse of northwesterly to northerly swell that was generated by a system near Japan. Hazardous surf of 9 feet is still occurring, but the coastal flood advisory was cancelled as the magnitude of the high tide has decreased, marking the end of this King Tide cycle, and decreasing the risk of coastal flooding along vulnerable shorelines.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
