...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CHST FRIDAY... ...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...East facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...For the High Surf Warning, until 5 PM ChST Friday. For the Coastal Flood Statement, through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Some water on low lying roads and property. Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion can be expected. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... A significant pulse of trade swell has continued to build today across the Marianas, reinforced by a strong trade-wind surge behind the shear line. Surf remains dangerous along east facing reefs. Surf will remain hazardous along north and south facing reefs until Friday afternoon.
Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure.
