Wisconsin River At Portage affecting Columbia County.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Sugar River at Brodhead.

* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 6.5 feet, There is widespread flooding of lowland and
agricultural land. Downstream in the Avon Bottoms area of Rock
County, there is flooding in Sugar River Park. Some roads are
flooded in Avon Township, including Beloit Newark Rd, about 6
miles downstream of Brodhead. In Illinois, Winslow Rd is
threatened near the river between Durand and Shirland. Low lying
areas of Sugar Shores Camping Resort may be inundated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 6.6 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 4.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:00 AM CDT Sunday was 8.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late tomorrow morning and continue falling to 2.0 feet

- Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
6.6 feet on 03/13/1989.

Information:

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.
